The Howard Partnership Trust

Betchwood Vale Academy

UPDATE January 2024

Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) granted planning permission for this new school build at their meeting on Wednesday 1 March 2023. Details of the plans can be found on the MVDC website via this link.

The Howard Partnership Trust (THPT) continue to work closely with the Department of Education and their chosen contractors, Bowmer and Kirkland, on this exciting new school development at a  site in Dorking.

The school, named Betchwood Vale Academy, will help support the overwhelming need for SEND places in Surrey, by offering a co-educational all-through SEND school designed for up to 180 pupils aged 7-19 years, which will support young learners with Communication and Interaction Needs (COIN), and Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) including High Functioning Autism (HFA).

The addition of Betchwood Vale Academy will enrich THPT's ethos and vision for ‘bringing out the best’ in our young people of all abilities and backgrounds, so increasing their life-chances.

The project will be managed and funded by the DfE, and we await their guidance on when the school will be ready to admit its first cohort of children and young people.

There is little more information available at present, but we will be updating this page as this exciting project progresses and we move towards the opening of this new school within The Howard Partnership Trust.
