Howard of Effingham rises in national school league table

Howard of Effingham School has gained national recognition after rising 46 places in this year’s Sunday Times Parent Power league table. The high-performing school is now ranked 207th nationally, up from 253rd place last year. This places it in the top 6% of all state secondaries in England.

The Sunday Times Parent Power guide is one of the most widely followed rankings of school performance. It uses publicly available examination data to identify the highest-achieving schools across the country. It compares schools on measures such as GCSE and A-level results, enabling parents to see how local schools perform against others nationally.

James Baker, Principal of Howard of Effingham School, said: “This recognition reflects the hard work and constant dedication of staff and students. With the strong backing of our local community and the support of The Howard Partnership Trust, we are delivering on our commitment to ‘bring out the best’ in each young person.”

Recent visits from Ofsted inspectors have also highlighted the school’s strengths. The recent report noted a calm and orderly learning environment, high expectations and strong pastoral support. Inspectors have praised the school’s ambitious curriculum, the quality of teaching and the way pupils are prepared for their next steps in education, training or employment.

Alongside academic success, Howard of Effingham offers a wide range of enrichment opportunities. Students can take part in the annual HowardFest music festival, an extensive Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme and numerous clubs and trips.

Howard of Effingham School is part of The Howard Partnership Trust, a family of schools committed to delivering life-changing education.

The claim that Howard of Effingham is placed in the top 6% of schools in the country is based on its position in the Sunday Times Parent Power Guide (207) and the number of secondary schools across England (3,456).
