Ofsted praises Kenyngton Manor Primary School - a place where children belong and progress well

Kenyngton Manor Primary School is found to meet or exceed expected standard across all areas

School inspectors have praised a THPT primary school for being a place where pupils “progress well” and every child can find “something they love.”

Ofsted visited Kenyngton Manor Primary School towards the end of 2025, as one of the first full inspections under the new Ofsted framework.  It judged the school to meet at least “expected standard” in all areas and to demonstrate “strong standard” in three crucial categories (“inclusion”, “leadership and governance”, “personal development and wellbeing”).  The full report has just been published.

The report notes that pupils progress well academically and “often rapidly” during their time at the school.  Inspectors credit “purposeful” staff training for ensuring that “teaching follows a clear plan” as pupils “build more knowledge in reading, writing and mathematics.”  The report identified reading as a major strength.

Inspectors also found that “staff help pupils grow in many ways.”  Pupils “know what is right and wrong and talk clearly about fairness and equality.”  Beyond lessons, “pupils enjoy clubs such as dance, art, sports and construction. Everyone can find something they love.”

Crucially, the report praised the school’s efforts to “understand every child and provide the right support.”  Staff regularly check progress so “no one falls behind.”  Each decision “reflects the belief that every child deserves the best opportunities and experiences.”

Additionally, inspectors praised:

  • School leaders – who understand “what is working well and what needs to get better.” Trustees ensure that “the school’s goals are met and maintained over time.”  Leaders make good choices so that “the school improves rapidly and pupils do well in lessons.”
  • Commitment to inclusion – with trustees and local board members making decisions that “put pupils first, especially those who need extra help.” Mental health and wellbeing are a priority, and pupils can “talk to trusted adults and get support from learning mentors and trained staff.”
  • Support for disadvantaged pupils – noting that in some cases “disadvantaged pupils perform better than other disadvantaged pupils nationally.”
  • Good standard of behaviour – “bullying is not allowed. If it happens, staff deal with it fast and fairly.”
  • A sense of belonging – “pupils feel they belong because they take part in school life. They help make decisions as councillors, captains and leaders.”

Kenyngton Manor Primary School is committed to “bringing out the best” in every child.  It is part of The Howard Partnership Trust, a values-driven trust committed to delivering life-changing education.

Lee Herdman, principal of Kenyngton Manor Primary School, said, “Our school is a community where everyone belongs, each of us works hard and all support one another. We are pleased all this, along with our secure achievements, is recognised in the report.

“When speaking with parents and carers, inspectors found them to be full of praise for the school. They recognised that ‘determined leadership’ has made a big improvement over the last two years – an improvement that can be seen in our Key Stage 2 results, which are above the national average. I am deeply grateful to our fantastic staff team, supported by The Howard Partnership Trust, for the work and commitment they continue to show.”

Kenyngton Manor Primary was one of the first schools to be inspected under the new Ofsted framework.  The framework claims to give parents a clearer, more rounded picture of what daily life is really like for children in school.
