When a school is determined to provide life-changing education, everyday counts. Encouraging pupils to become the best version of themselves requires a commitment to each young person and a determination to set every child on the best path for them.
The results of this commitment are demonstrated in the independently verified data from the Department for Education. Here are just four of the highlights from this year’s secondary school and post-16 data that we wanted to share.
1. Attainment at Howard of Effingham exceeds national and local standards

Students at Howard of Effingham School have achieved attainment scores well above the national average. “Attainment 8” is a measure that looks at how students have performed across eight subjects. Each student’s scores are added together (after being weighted to certain subjects) to provide a total score for them as an individual. On average, Howard students achieved an impressive 56.9. Students at schools across Surrey achieved 50.7, on average, with students at schools across England securing an average of 45.9.
2. 69% of Oxted students are going on to higher education or training

Oxted School has a proud history of preparing young people for the futures that are right for them. For many young people, further education or training is the best next step. Last year, some 69% of students proceeded to higher education or training. That’s notably more than the national average (65%).
3. The number of students achieving a qualification at Thomas Knyvett College is higher than the national average

Every child matters. Each one deserves the chance to leave school with a real achievement under their belt. That’s why we’re pleased that 97.8% of students at Thomas Knyvett College achieved at least one qualification (with the vast majority achieving more than that). This is above the national average of 96.5%. Furthermore, 96.7% of TKC students achieved at least a Level 1 in the all-important English GCSE. This is above the Surrey average (93.8%) and national average (93%).
4. 50% increase in number of students achieving the top A-Level grades at Three Rivers Academy

Three Rivers Academy continues to break records with its post-16 performance. This year the school celebrated a 50% increase in the proportion of A*-B grades compared to 2024. But it’s not just A-Level students who had reason to celebrate. A staggering 100% of students sitting vocational courses achieved a pass or better.
These achievements are a testament to the hard work of our team across THPT schools. The results are not just “boxes to tick”. They represent real knowledge and skills that young people have learned during their time at school – knowledge that helps give them the opportunity they deserve to build great careers and meaningful lives.
